THE 2010 WINE ON HARVEST MOON IS SOLD OUT!
South BMW proudly presents the Deering Estate Foundation’s 9th Annual "Wine on Harvest Moon" on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 7:30 to 10:30 pm. A VIP reception will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
Like some vintages, the Deering Estate Foundation’s 9th annual signature fundraising event “Wine on Harvest Moon” presented by South BMW, gets better with age. Each year the theme features the ‘fine wine, fine food and fine art’ of a different region of the world. This year, the bountiful dishes and wines from California’s Sonoma, Napa and the Central Coastal will be showcased.
A highlight of the evening is the Florida debut of “Deering Wine” of Sonoma County, California. Proprietors Blair Collins Maus and her husband Todd are bringing their Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Zinfandels “home” to the Deering Estate at Cutler for sampling and sale. Blair is a descendent of the Deering-McCormick family, who were early developers of farming technology, and she is the great-great granddaughter of Charles Deering.
Throughout the evening delicious food samples are prepared by chefs from: Bizcaya at the Ritz-Carlton, Ana Capri, Smith & Wolensky, Sawa at Merrick Park, Mango Café, Kaliapy’s and Delicias Del Mundo. Scrumptious desserts are being provided by Wendy’s Chocolates, Donna’s Delights and Sugar Shack. Sara Sharpe is catering the VIP reception where Crown Wine & Spirits will present a wine tasting with Professor Chip Cassidy and event sommelier Veronica Litton - who will both share their expertise.
An exciting new component at this year’s “Wine on Harvest Moon” is the celebrity cook-off. Gourmet food trucks, a concept that originated in California, are one of the hottest national food trends. This casual source for high-end food set up the perfect challenge for the event, The Battle of the Food Truck Chefs. The famed Chef Jeremiah of the GastroPod Mobile Gourmet, opposes the talented Chef Jack Garabedian of Jefe's Original Fish Taco & Burgers. There will be no limit to the creativity of either of these remarkable chefs when it comes using products from the generous pantry stock piled by Whole Foods Market.
Wine on Harvest Moon caters to South Florida’s connoisseurs of fine wines and delicious foods who are also strong supporters of historic preservation, natural habitat conservation and the cultural arts. Proceeds benefit the Deering Estate Foundation - a 501(c) 3 community based Florida Corporation that serves as the advocacy support group and philanthropic arm of the Deering Estate at Cutler.
