The Summer Cabaret Concert Series features eclectic and world music artists in an intimate setting during the summer months. The Estate hosts a total of three small concerts in the historic Stone House Ballroom.
The second concert of the three-part Summer Cabaret Concert Series will feature Johnny Rodgers on Saturday, July 25th.
All concerts begin at 8 pm; the main gate opens at 7 pm. It is recommended to arrive early for preferred seating.Guests are welcome to bring refreshments and snacks to enjoy during the show.
General admission is $20. Limited seating is available. Advance tickets are recommended. To purchase tickets, please call the Deering Estate Ticket Office at 305-235-1668 ext. 233.
About the artist:
Johnny Rodgers takes you on a guided tour of American Pop with his original soft rock ballads, Taylor-flavored melodies, and sultry jazz arrangements. His compelling lyrics and on-stage charm complete the performance package ensuring the audience a pleasurable ride. Praised by Rex Reed as "a finger popping pianist and a terrific singer with range and style," Rodgers has won the MAC Award, Bistro Award and Billboard Magazine’s 2008 World Song Contest for Home to Mendocino and in December received the 2008 ASCAP Foundation songwriter award. Johnny's debut CD Box of Photographs earned him instant acclaim from critics and radio stations across the country. All Music.com said, "if this collection is any indication of what's to come, Rodgers will be across the board superstar." Liza Minnelli discovered Johnny several years ago, bringing him on as a pianist and guest performer on her world tours and recent featured Johnny in “Liza’s At The Palace” on Broadway. Rodgers recently released two new EPs BOUND TOGETHER featuring the parental tribute single The Best Of You In Me, and the second a big band swing duet with Liza titled LET’S MAKE A DATE. Johnny Rodgers grew up in Miami and is a product of Westminster Christian, Southwood Middle School, and New World School of the Arts. He attended University of Miami Frost School of Music.
