About the artist: Vocalist Debbie Orta will perform two sets of jazz standards and Brazilian jazz. A former touring backup vocalist with Latin superstars Jose Luis Rodriguez “El Puma” and Chayanne, Orta traveled the world for several years before settling in South Florida to perform in local bands. Orta now commands the stage herself, accompanied by a dynamic trio of jazz musicians including Jim Gasior on piano, Nicky Orta on bass and Carlomagno Araya on drums. Her sultry singing style, ranging from passionate to playful, hails from coming of age in a very musical Puerto Rican family. To whet your musical appetite, Orta’s ballads warmly sizzle and her swing tunes cook. Plus she offers a dash of Brazilian spice along with some surprises by great composers of the 60’s. Orta is presently in pre-production of a CD of jazz standards and original compositions.
