"The Grapes-Wine Education Series" is a unique wine education program. The six-part class series focuses on the top varital wine grapes. Taught by Wine Educator, Barry Alberts, each class will feature a single grape variety and showcase how it compares and contrasts as we sample the same grape from all over the world. Imagine Chardonnay from California, France, Australia and South America. You will learn what flavors to look for in each grape and what meals are best to pair with them. The mystery of the grape and food pairing unveiled! Very educational and fun!

About the instructor:
The instructor, Barry Alberts, has been teaching about wine appreciation for over three decades. For 18 years he's organized one of the longest-running weekly wine tastings in the country, hosted every Friday evening at the Mayfair House Hotel in Coconut Grove. He also runs the wine program at the very popular Jaguar Restaurant in Coconut Grove and Talavera Restaurant in Coral Gables, writing the wine lists and running staff training as well as a weekly wine event on Thursdays at Jaguar. For 8 years, Barry was the Wine Director for Scotty's Gourmet Market in Coconut Grove, Florida. In 1996, Wine & Spirits Magazine named him one of the top 100 wine retailers in the US. He also works nationally with private and corporate groups conducting wine pairing dinners & events with some of the country's top chefs in cities including New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Napa Valley, Portland, Seattle, Orlando and Miami. Originally from Missouri, Barry lived most of his life in Portland, Oregon where he discovered his passion for wine in the early 70s. He's been residing in South Florida since 1989.
