Care of Wildlife

The staff at the Deering Estate at Cutler shares your concern for wildlife; however, we are not equipped to care for sick, injured, orphaned, or stray animals. These animals have special needs that are best addressed by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.

Under no circumstances may any animal (exotic or native) be released into the park. Introduced animals prey upon local wildlife and compete with them for food, nesting sites, and other resources. Also, please remember that even seemingly healthy animals can carry diseases and parasites that may be harmful to both human handlers and local animal populations.
