Creative Art Camps

Since 2000, the Deering Estate at Cutler has been providing successful “specialty” science and recreation based summer camp programs for elementary and middle school students in the Miami-Dade County community. To continue this tradition and also provide a non-competitive environment in which children can explore and enjoy a balance of fine and traditional craft art, enrichment activities and recreational activities, the proposed expansion of the summer camp program in 2008 will include a concurrent Creative Art Camp that uses theme-based and art-based learning activities. The program would also incorporate physical fitness and technology and makes use of the many advantages within the archaeological, natural and historic setting of the Estate, including interactive exhibits, Artist-in-Residence Program and our technology lab. Five, two-week programs are proposed. Each camp program serves 15 to 30 children per class.
