Pepe Mar

Beginning September 2007, LegalArt sponsored its first ever residency at the Deering Estate at Cutler. Jose (Pepe) Mar, one of two Miami artists awarded the LegalArt Residency, will occupy his Artist in Residence studio located in the Historic Carriage for one year, at no charge.

Pepe was born in Reynosa, Mexico, in 1977 and he currently lives and works in Miami. Pepe is a graduate of the California College of Arts & Crafts in San Francisco, CA where he received his BFA. He also completed studies at the Ecole d’Art, Aix-en-Provence, France in 1999 and the Cooper Union Artist Residency in 2007. His work has been exhibited in Miami, Boston, New York, California, Texas, Europe, and Japan.

              

Pepe works primarily with assemblage – drawing his inspiration from found pieces. His studio is open daily to guests visiting the Estate.
