The South Florida Writers Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the writing aspirations of its members, giving writers the tools to succeed through conferences, readings, contests, guest speakers, critique groups, networking, and publications.  The club meets monthly, on the first Saturday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at South Miami Elks Club, 6304 SW 78 Street, Miami, Fl. 33143.

April 19, 2009 - Celebrate "National Poetry Month"
In collaboration with the South Florida Writers Association, the Deering Estate at Cutler invites the public to join us for an afternoon of poetry and song in celebration of “National Poetry Month", the most celebrated literary event worldwide.  Featured poets will include Shamele Jenkins, Jonathan Rose and Kevin Walton with a special operatic performance by Eduardo Perez. Meet the Artist Reception in the Stone House Ballroom at 1:30 pm, Poetry Program begins at 2 pm.  Free with regular Estate Admission.
